California woman Julia Hill lived in a tree for two years to save a 1,000-year old tree. Hill stayed in an 180-foot Redwood for over 700 days when she heard the Pacific Lumber Company planned to cut it down. Friends helped ferry food and drinks up and down the tree so she could continue protesting. She remained despite alleged intimidation tactics the company used. Hill went up the tree, nicknamed “Luna”, in 1997 and didn’t come back down until 1999, after reaching an agreement with the lumber company to leave Luna and the surrounding trees standing. (Unilad)
