A study from the Netherlands analyzed 168 countries and found that the top 10% of consumers are responsible for up to 67% of environmental damage. The bottom 50% of the global population, on the other hand, contributes practically nothing to the environmental crisis. Wealthy groups tend to consume more animal-based foods, and have massive footprints due to luxury travel. Researchers estimate that if the top 10% of consumers adopted consumption levels on par with the average European lifestyle, environmental damage would decrease between 9% to 23%. (Study Finds)
