A Talker Research poll of 250 American general contractors found that 73% believe they can predict the larger economic climate. While it takes contractors an average of 15 days to receive payment after invoicing, 70% have experienced payment delays. 59% are concerned about tariffs impacting their projects and businesses. “Delayed payments don’t just frustrate contractors—they create a ripple effect that drives up costs, derails schedules, and erodes margins throughout the industry,” Chase Gilbert of Built, the company that commissioned the survey, said. 76% of contractors would offer discounts if a faster payment was guaranteed.
