Scientists Warn ‘Invisible’ Asteroids Near Venus Could Head For Earth

Researchers from Brazil, France, and Italy have discovered that at least three sizable asteroids, ranging from 330 to 1,300 feet in diameter, are orbiting in sync with Venus and pose a potential threat to Earth. These space rocks follow unstable orbits that bring them dangerously close to our planet, and their proximity to Venus makes them nearly impossible to detect due to the sun’s glare. The scientists warned that the “co-orbital status” of these asteroids protects them from approaching Venus but not Earth, leaving our planet vulnerable to the devastating impact of a potential collision. In the worst-case scenario, such an impact could release energy a million times greater than the nuclear bomb dropped on Hiroshima, leveling cities and triggering tsunamis.
