New research published in the journal Child Development suggests that parents should sing to their babies more often as it has a positive impact on a child’s mood and can benefit the health and well-being of parents. The study, conducted by an international team of scientists, involved 110 parents and their infants participating in a music enrichment intervention program. The program encouraged caregivers to sing more frequently to their babies using instructional videos and a child-friendly songbook. Results showed that increasing baby-directed singing led to improvements in infants’ general mood, caregiver-infant bonding, and later social-emotional development. The researchers are now exploring longer-term effects of singing on infant health.(Goodnewsnetwork)
