A stray dog rescued from Qatar and brought to the UK has been found after covering 100 miles over five weeks, including swimming a mile to reach an island off the southern coast of England. Amber, a five-year-old retriever cross, initially escaped from a family’s home near Bramshaw in New Forest National Park on April 25th. She was then tracked through the national park, across Hampshire and Dorset, and to the coast, where she swam to Brownsea Island. After spending four days on the island, Amber attempted to swim back to the mainland but struggled against the tide. Two men in a boat rescued her on Saturday, and she is reported to be in good condition. The woman who had been caring for Amber on the island is now interested in adopting her, with the rescue organization hoping Amber will have a “calmer, more stable spirit” going forward. (newser)
