A wild elephant caused chaos in a grocery store in Thailand when it entered from a nearby national park and helped itself to snacks. The male elephant, known as Plai Biang Lek, was captured on video calmly snatching and eating food from the shelves. Despite attempts by national park workers to shoo him away, the elephant continued to enjoy his impromptu snack time. The shop owner, Kamploy Kakaew, recounted that the elephant consumed nine bags of sweet rice crackers, a sandwich, and dried bananas before leaving without causing harm. This incident highlighted the ongoing issue of wild elephants venturing into human settlements in search of food due to habitat loss caused by agricultural expansion. (Story URL)
