A medical clinic in Scotland has issued a plea to local residents to refrain from bringing in unsolicited urine samples. The clinic highlighted on social media the inundation of non-medical household containers filled with urine, rather than sterile sample containers. Due to the excessive amount of unrequested samples, the clinic stated that they can no longer accept them unless specifically requested. British Medical Association Scotland emphasized the need for a medical examination before interpreting urine test results, as each unrequested sample requires time, resources, and proper medical assessment. The clinic urged patients to consult with clinicians before submitting urine samples in appropriate containers for accurate testing.
