A recent survey of 2,000 employed adults reveals that many workers have consigned once-ubiquitous office relics to the annals of history, including fax machines, Rolodexes, and clunky filing cabinets. Other items that have fallen out of favor include landline desk phones, business card holders, and computer disks. The poll found that 52% of professionals now treat their smartphones as a fully-fledged portable office, while 62% claim this has improved their multitasking abilities. Indeed, the workday has evolved, with 50% of employees beginning their tasks during their commute, and the office itself featuring more comfortable seating, relaxation spaces, and collaboration areas. While 37% now have fully office-based roles, 18% split their time evenly between the office and remote work, and 21% primarily work from home. As a result, just 37% have assigned desks, with over a quarter opting for desk-sharing instead. (Talking Points)
