IRS lawyer Isaac Stein turned his childhood dream into reality during the government shutdown by operating “Shysters Dogs” hot dog stand in Washington, D.C. Furloughed on October 8th after obtaining permits in late September, Stein now works seven days a week selling hot dogs for $10 or $17 with drinks. “I am having a grand old time slinging hot dogs,” Stein said. His menu features a “correct hot dog” with mustard and sauerkraut versus a “hot dog with the wrong toppings” that costs an extra dollar penalty. The stand’s motto is “the only honest ripoff in DC.” Stein sells approximately 50 hot dogs daily and plans to continue the weekend business after returning to his IRS position. “But I’m definitely not giving this up,” Stein said. “This is going to be a weekend project, I think, for life.” (Story URL)
