After more than two decades away from the stage, Life Without Buildings are set to perform together again. The band will reunite for a one-off live show at Rough Trade East in London.
The performance marks their first live appearance in over 20 years. Life Without Buildings were active for a short period in the late 1990s and early 2000s before disbanding. They are best known for their 2001 album Any Other City, which developed a cult following long after its release.
The group’s sound stood apart at the time. Frontwoman Sue Tompkins delivered spoken-word vocals over sharp, rhythmic post-punk arrangements. While the band never pursued mainstream success, their work has remained influential, particularly among listeners drawn to minimalist and experimental rock.
No additional dates have been announced. The show is being presented as a standalone event rather than the start of a broader reunion or tour.
The return reflects a wider pattern in independent music, where renewed interest, reissues, and rediscovery often bring short-lived bands back into focus years later.
