Puddle Of Mudd went viral on social media this week with a video of the band performing the Nirvana classic “About A Girl” during a recent acoustic session on SiriusXM.
While the band sounds okay, frontman Wes Scantlin's vocals are another matter entirely, as his voice cracks and he's continually off-key. The clip is from January, but it only recently started to go viral, surpassing one million views on YouTube with more than 16,000 dislikes and just around 2,500 likes.
Users were quick to express their thoughts about the clip, with one saying, “I like the part where there's no singing,” while another said more brutally, “Kind of sounds like Kurt Cobain . . . if he was being sodomized with a cactus.”
Following a long period of time in which Scantlin had almost non-stop problems with the law, alcohol, finances and other issues, he finally got sober. Puddle Of Mudd released its first album in a decade, Welcome To Galvania, last year.
