Instead of encouraging fans to perform a “Day of Service” as they've done for the past two years in May, Metallica has decided this May to host the “All Within My Hands Month Of Giving” in response to the coronavirus pandemic which has swept the world.
The band unveiled the initiative in a video from drummer Lars Ulrich, who declared, “Inspired by today’s #GivingTuesdayNow, a new global date of giving in response to the global need caused by COVID-19, we’re going to spotlight four organizations we’re supporting throughout this crisis. Each week this month, we will share with you what these organizations do and show you how you can chip in to help.”
Ulrich added that the band will contribute proceeds from special weekly featured merchandise in the Metallica store along with funds raised during its weekly #MetallicaMondays streaming concerts.
The band's All Within My Hands Foundation will direct all charitable contributions to organizations directly involved in relief efforts related to the pandemic.
Metallica's All Within My Hands non-profit foundation was launched in 2017 to help creating sustainable communities by tackling the issues of hunger and workforce education, as well as encouraging volunteerism.
