Skillet has announced the sequel to its 2019 graphic novel Eden. Titled Eden II: The Aftermath, it will be released in September 2020 in both standard and limited editions by Z2 comics.
The deluxe limited edition will be housed in a slipcase and hand-signed by the band. It will come with exclusive music and five limited edition art prints.
Skillet frontman John Cooper has teamed up once again with illustrator Chris Hunt, who worked on the initial story, saying, “Eden 2 gives us more of what we like from the first book: more action, more surprises, more suspense.”
Cooper told us not long ago that comics are among the many pop culture influences that have shaped his music: “Interviews always ask, 'What inspires you?' And I've always said, books, movies, comics, because it's not all that different. I mean, what you're trying to do is you're trying to create an experience, you know. So yeah, certainly a lot of the theatrics of Skillet, the epic kind of stuff, I wouldn't say, yeah, comics equals Skillet's songs by any means, but it's gone into making me who I am.”
The first Eden followed the characters of John and Korey, based on the real-life Coopers, as they uncovered the mystery behind a prophecy that threatened to consume them and their town.
