Volbeat's previously announced U.S. tour with Clutch has been officially canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The trek was originally scheduled to kick off on April 4th in Tempe, Arizona and run through mid-May. The band had signaled earlier in the crisis that it was initially trying to reschedule the dates, a prospect that seemed increasingly unlikely as the pandemic dragged on.
Now the band has written, “We, alongside our team, the local promoters and venues have all been working hard to try to reschedule these shows but as the timing for the safe return of live events is still unclear, we feel it is best to cancel the tour.”
The statement added, “We can't say enough how much we were looking forward to this run, and we will make plans to be back in North America as soon as it is safe for stages to open back up. Please keep an eye on your inboxes as you will soon be receiving information about ticket refunds from your point of purchase.”
Volbeat frontman Michael Poulsen told us how he's been keeping busy at home in Denmark during the global lockdown: “I'm just enjoying family life and at the same time I'm writing a lot of new Volbeat songs because when we get the green light to go out there on the road again, we want to stay on the road and do those shows that people are waiting for, so we don't have to go home again and write a new album. So I'm writing so we have tons of new songs when it's needed to go to the studio again.”
The Danish-American act recently released a new animated video for “Leviathan,” the latest single off the band's seventh studio album, Rewind, Replay, Rebound.
