Amber Heard thinks her ex Johnny Depp is playing games. The Fantastic Beasts star is trying to delay his January trial date, claiming he’s contractually obligated to appear on-set.
Heard and Depp have been embroiled in dueling lawsuits since their divorce, with both claiming the other abused them physically and emotionally, and destroyed their careers.
Heard filed papers claiming that Depp has made “no effort whatsoever” to work his schedule around the Virginia court’s schedule. He requested last month that his $50 million defamation suit against Heard be pushed back to accommodate his shooting schedule.
“Mr. Depp decided that, rather than speak with his employer to work his film commitments around his trial, he asks this court to subserviently reschedule around his employment and the entire film schedule and production,” the actress’s lawyers claimed.
Her team also noted that she is due to start filming Aquaman 2 next year, and that any delay would disrupt her schedule.
Depp is suing Heard for $50 million over an op-ed she wrote in the Washington Post about her experience as a domestic violence survivor. While she didn’t name Depp, the allusion was clear. Heard filed a $100 million countersuit, and is seeking to have what she dubs his “frivolous suit” thrown out.
