System Of A Down drummer John Dolmayan has revealed that there are other musical guests he wanted for his upcoming debut solo album, but wasn't able to get them.
While luminaries like Avenged Sevenfold singer M. Shadows and Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello are on These Grey Men, Dolmayan was unable to secure the participation of Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan and Incubus vocalist Brandon Boyd.
Dolmayan explained, “There was a song that I thought would be perfect for Brandon Boyd from Incubus, and I only wanted to do it with him. Unfortunately, Brandon and I couldn’t connect, even though we’ve been friends for a long time, so I didn’t do it at all. And there was a song I wanted Maynard from Tool to sing on, but he wasn’t available. Maybe one day they could happen.”
The disc, a collection of cover songs, arrives on February 28th. The eight-song LP contains covers of tracks by such varied artists as Madonna, Radiohead, AFI, Eminem and David Bowie.
