The 1975 was forced to cancel a headlining festival show in Brisbane, Australia on Saturday night (February 1st), just hours before they were scheduled to play, after singer Matty Healy was too ill to perform.
The British act scrapped its set at the Laneway Festival, writing online, "Unfortunately after a medical examination at 5.30pm today the doctor has advised that Matty is too weak to play. We hope to be back on track for tomorrow’s show in Sydney.”
Healy himself later came online to share an update and suggest that jokes about him coming down with the coronavirus were not funny.
The vocalist wrote, "I am alive and well s**t just got way too vibey I’m still taking it easy but I’ll see you tonight." Healy did not disclose his ailment or what he meant by "vibey."
The band did perform on Sunday night (February 2nd), with Healy sporting a hospital gown and an IV drip during their set.
