System Of A Down, Korn and Faith No More have added a second date at Banc Of California stadium in Los Angeles. Due to what is described as “overwhelming demand,” the bands will now also perform at the venue on Saturday, May 23rd, one day after the previously announced concert at the same stadium.
Helmet and Russian Circles are both also confirmed for the second show as well as the first. Tickets for both shows go on sale Friday (February 7th) at 10:00 a.m. PT. The concerts will mark the first-announced U.S. shows of 2020 for both System Of A Down and Faith No More.
System has toured intermittently since ending its hiatus in 2011 but has yet to record a follow-up to its Mezmerize and Hypnotize albums, which came out in 2005.
Drummer John Dolmayan revealed in a new interview with Alternative Press that he, bassist Shavo Odadjian and guitarist Daron Malakian have worked up an album's worth of material without the involvement of singer Serj Tankian. The issue seems to be a battle for creative control over the band's music between Malakian and Tankian.
Asked if a new System album was any closer, Dolmayan replied, “We’re further away. We were getting close for a little while. Shavo, Daron and I were in the studio — this is two, maybe three years ago now. We finalized the music for 12 songs. They were very good. But due to internal problems and rifts, I don’t see that happening.”
Dolmayan himself will release his solo debut, These Grey Men, on February 28th. The eight-song LP contains covers of tracks by artists like Madonna, Radiohead, Eminem and David Bowie. It features guest appearances from Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello and Avenged Sevenfold singer M. Shadows.
