The first single from Heart Like A Wheel, “You're No Good” was Linda Ronstadt's first and only Number One hit on the Billboard Hot 100.
Written by Clint Ballard, Jr., “You're No Good” — a biting rail at a cheating lover — was originally recorded by R&B singer Betty Everett, who did not enjoy nearly the same success as Ronstadt.
Besides establishing Ronstadt as one of rock's pre-eminent female vocalists, “You're No Good” and the Heart Like A Wheel album also helped singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Gold establish himself as a talent to watch.
Heart Like A Wheel was Ronstadt's first Number One album on the Billboard Top 200. It sold more than two million copies.
Heart Like A Wheel was also Ronstadt's last album for Capitol Records before switching to her longtime home, Asylum.
