The population of the world will hit its peak in 2080, according to a recent UN report. After that, the population is predicted to decline. The current world population is 8.2 billion. It’s expected to reach 10.8 billion at its peak. Some countries, like South Korea, Italy, and Spain, are already seeing low birth rates. China, Germany, and Japan have already reached their peak populations. UN Under-Secretary-General Li Junhua said the decline in population from 2080 onward “could mean reduced environmental pressures from human impacts due to lower aggregate consumption.” (newser)
