Creative and artistic hobbies can have meaningful effects on mental health. According to a new study in the journal Frontiers in Public Health, more than a third of people who were asked about their levels of loneliness and “sensations of happiness, anxiety and life satisfaction, and to give their impression of whether life is worthwhile” said they’ve been involved in arts and crafts in some capacity over the past month. As a result, people who engaged in creative activities scored higher in terms of happiness, life satisfaction and the sense that life is worthwhile compared to those who weren’t involved in arts or crafts.
