Blood sugar shifts play a role in what we eat and how we feel after eating. According to UPI, blood sugar levels can be fuel for anxiety and depression. Several randomized controlled trials have found that diet is one biological factor that can have a significant influence risk for symptoms of depression and anxiety, especially for women. A poor diet can also impact mental health. Artificial sweeteners, among other processed foods, are also strongly associated with depression. Eating carbohydrates at the end of meals, and eating vegetables and proteins first can drastically lower the blood sugar spike that comes after eating carbs. (UPI)
