A letter published in the American Journal of the Medical Sciences calls for more research on the link between nose-picking and Alzheimer’s. The letter says that several pathogens that enter the brain through the nose have been linked to Alzheimer’s disease. “We propose more investigation to understand the association of nose picking with Alzheimer’s disease in the form of case-control studies with larger sample populations,” the letter concludes. Some diseases thought to contribute to dementia include the herpes virus, coronavirus, and more. Alzheimer’s impacts 6.7 million Americans 65 and older. (dailymail.co.uk)
