A poll of 2,000 British respondents discovered that 40% of women refer to their privates as “down there” instead of using the correct anatomical terms. A recent YouGov survey found that about half of men and women did not know where the labia was. 65% of respondents think that using the correct anatomical names would reduce the stigma around sexual health. “If people feel too awkward or ashamed to talk about their bodies, then they won’t have the confidence to seek support when they need it,” Rebecca Shutt of Brook charity found.
