A new scam is making the rounds and scaring people into thinking intimate moments will be shared with the world. The email scam begins with a message that says, “hello pervert” and then the sender claims to have footage of you taken from your computer’s webcam. To stop this footage from being shared, the scammer asks to be paid a certain amount. “No one knows where your perversion might lead in the future, so consider this a kind of deserved punishment to stop you,” one scam email reads. Cybersecurity experts at Malwarebytes warn users not to reply to these emails, and not to click on any attachments. For peace of mind, you can also cover your computer’s camera. (dailymail.co.uk)
