Dog-walking injuries have risen over the past 20 years, Johns Hopkins University researchers found. From 2001 to 2020, the number of adults visiting the ER for such injuries increased from 7,300 to 32,300 per year. 75% of patients were women, and 47% of patients were between the ages of 40 and 64. Lead researcher Ridge Maxson recommends using a non-retractable leash between six and eight feet long. “Retractable leashes can sometimes make your dog more difficult to control,” he said. (newser)
