Since 2020, parents have been concerned about Covid’s impact on “pandemic babies.” New research from Columbia University debunks the myth that babies born during the pandemic had a higher likelihood of developing autism. Researchers examined 2,000 toddlers born before and after the Covid-19 outbreak, and found no significant difference in positive autism screenings. “The scale of the COVID pandemic had pediatricians, researchers, and developmental scientists worried that we would see an uptick in autism rates,” senior study author Dami Dumitriu said. “But reassuringly, we didn’t find any indication of such an increase in our study.” (Study Finds)
