West Virginia Governor Jim Justice, who was elected as the state’s senator last week, has been told he cannot bring his “watermelon” on the Senate floor. Justice’s English bulldog Babydog, who goes everywhere with him, has gained popularity for being the governor’s “60-pound brown watermelon.” However, at orientation for incoming senators, Justice was told that only service animals are allowed in certain areas. Babydog and her team issued a statement: “Even though I wasn’t in DC today, I got the most headlines.” While she might not be casting votes, Babydog is likely to show up at some Capitol events in the future.
