Study Reveals Low Participation of Women in Team Sports

A recent UK study found that only seven percent of women participate in team sports, with most quitting by age 21. The research, polling 3,000 women, identified barriers such as busy schedules, work commitments, and family responsibilities. Reasons cited for quitting team sports include pregnancy, menstruation, and menopause issues. AXA UK commissioned the study as part of its ‘Keep on Kicking’ campaign, aiming to highlight challenges women face in pursuing team sports at different life stages. The report features personal stories from former athletes and emphasizes the importance of team sports for physical and mental health.
