Organizers reported that this year’s derby raised nearly $600,000 for Special Olympics Illinois, with the funds supporting the organization’s programming that provides opportunities for growth, personal development, and connection through sports, health, and leadership initiatives for individuals with intellectual disabilities. The event also featured live music, food trucks, photo opportunities, and games. After the race, the ducks were removed from the river and will be stored for use in the following year’s Ducky Derby.
