Daily nicotine vaping among U.S. middle and high school students nearly doubled from 15% to 29% between 2020 and 2024. The study analyzed data from over 115,000 teenagers through the Monitoring the Future survey. Failed quit attempts among daily vapers rose dramatically from 28% to 53% during the same timeframe. Lead researcher Dr. Abbey Masonbrink from Children’s Hospital Los Angeles said: “The rise in daily vaping and growing number of youth trying to quit implies that these youth are experiencing a severe level of nicotine addiction.” Daily vaping in rural areas surged from 16% to nearly 42%. By 2024, more vapers were female, Black and from rural areas. However, overall teen vaping in the past 30 days decreased among both genders during this period. (Story URL)
