The poll shows 58% say younger workers receive a worse deal than current retirees, while 62% believe Congress broke promises managing the program. Americans underestimate the severity of financial problems, with 76% unaware the program is extremely underfunded. When told benefits could face nearly 25% cuts starting in 2033, 44% said the problem was more serious than realized.
